The biggest night in Los Angeles architecture is coming this October 22, when the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles (AIA|LA) hosts its annual AIA|LA Design Awards and Festivities. The event will be held at the Broad Stage in the beautiful Santa Monica Performing Arts Center and include a cocktail reception and exhibit of all 2012 Design Awards and Next LA entries on a large LED wall.
Kicking off the celebration as the opening presenter will be acclaimed recording artist Moby, whose architecture blog, Moby Los Angeles Architecture, is a regular read of ours here at The Agency Blog. Other presenters include Venice Beach based artist Cliff Garten, journalist Marissa Gluck and acclaimed blogger Alissa Walker.
The awards ceremony will be followed by a buffet-style dinner, allowing guests to mingle and celebrate with all winners.
One of the most prestigious awards a designer can win in the Los Angeles design community, the Design Awards are judged by a jury of International architects, fellows, critics, professors and theorists. Six jurors, divided into two judging categories, “Design Awards” and “Next LA,” convene at a Jury Roundtable where they discuss the winning projects and trends.
