Finally, a $500 milkshake to wash that amazingly good burger down with. Only at The Powder Room, opening this Friday, November 22, can you stick a straw into “The Velvet Goldmine” made with premium spirits, edible gold, Belgium chocolate, and a Swarovski ring to take home.
Although not the kind of milkshake you would award a Little League victory with, the inspiration for the drink stems from fond childhood memories. “I remember loving Cracker jack boxes as a kid and getting the prize at the end of it,” shares Powder Room managing partner John Arakaki. “It’s taking that philosophy to another level of execution.”
Talk about a seriously spiked shake. On the off chance that you don’t fancy a ring, you can choose from five other equally tempting concoctions, including the “Steel Magnolia”: Zing red velvet vodka blended with red velvet cake, vodka soaked cherries, cream cheese frosting, crushed salted pretzels and vanilla ice cream topped with cream cheese whipped cream.
The watering hole’s interior, which EaterLA recently explored, draws inspiration from imagery associated with Hollywood studio glamour. The bar is lined with white snake skin bar stools and curved, redwood walls gleam overhead.
After taking a peek ourselves at the roster of mixologists—Luke Andes (Providence), Jayme Mandeville (Drago Centro), Nadia Underwood (STK), Adrian Biggs (La Descarga)—it looks like we’re in store for an impressive selection of craft cocktails. Nurse a Sweet Jane Rum Fizz or The Pink Pussycat for the night and you’ll be feeling Hollywood glam in no time.
