As a widely popular online design community, Design Sponge calls attention to beautiful work, ideas, and places as well as the personalities who pursue them. For their latest “24 Hours In” series, in which they ask designers and artists to show us their favorite local spots, they feature Joy Cho of the Oh Joy! blog (who we first introduced here) to share how her ideal day in East L.A. would play out.

From indulging in a morning pastry (Republique, Proof Bakery) to grabbing a hearty supper (Black Hogg), Joy takes us through an entire day filled with her favorite restaurants, shopping, and activities. She suggests taking a long walk in Echo Park, enjoying the fresh air and scenery with a friend, stopping for an afternoon Iced Genmaicha Tea Latte at Cafe Dulce in Little Tokyo, and perusing what’s in bloom at the Twig & Vine flower shop.

Since her blog centers around entertaining, Joy enjoys spending time at shops in East L.A. that offer up a large serving of inspiration. Among her top choices are En Soie, Mohawk General Store, and Clementine Floral Works on Sunset Boulevard; Poketo, Apolis, and Alchemy Works in the Arts District; and Sunbeam Village in Highland Park where “you can find something special to add to your home decor.”
