Habitat For Humanity Honors The Agency’s Mauricio Umansky

At The Agency, we’re deeply invested in the Los Angeles community and dedicated to doing our part to create more affordable homeownership opportunities locally and worldwide. Through partnerships with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat L.A.) and Giveback Homes, our agents and staff have collaborated on build days and raised funds to help families in need obtain safe and affordable housing.

On Thursday, October 13, Habitat L.A. will host its annual Los Angeles Builders Ball at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, with proceeds going to support the organization’s efforts to revitalize neighborhoods and make homeownership a possibility for thousands of L.A. residents in need. The event will bring together top builders, developers and executives in the real estate and entertainment worlds to celebrate the accomplishments of housing and community champions in L.A.

Among this year’s honorees is The Agency’s founder and CEO, Mauricio Umansky, who will be recognized as a Dream Builder for his extensive philanthropic work and commitment to creating more affordable homeownership opportunities in L.A. and beyond. Mauricio, and those in attendance, will enjoy a VIP reception followed by dinner, a live auction and special guest musical performance.

The event will celebrate the 15 homes completed on Santa Ana Boulevard in Watts during the 1995 Carter Work Project and the 32 families who now call the neighborhood home. Jose Tobar, who grew up in one of the Carter Work Project homes, will serve as the keynote speaker and share his family’s transformative journey in what is sure to be an inspiring evening benefiting a cause that is close to The Agency’s heart.

Habitat L.A. has built, renovated or repaired more than 750 homes locally and helped change the lives of more than 4,000 L.A. residents. By 2020, their goal is to invest $100 million in revitalizing neighborhoods and increasing access to affordable homeownership and home repair opportunities.
