The recipient of numerous accolades, Billy was a Finalist for the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards in 2017 and selected (on multiple occasions) by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter for their Top Real Estate Agent lists. Under his leadership, The Agency has been named among Inc. 5000’s list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country for two consecutive years.
Previously an entertainment and real estate lawyer and motion picture talent agent, Billy understands what it takes to render quality representation—under, at times, high-pressured circumstances—with the utmost of confidentiality and professionalism. "Representing a client in the purchase or sale of a home is not terribly different than buying or selling a movie," says Billy.
The transition from lawyer/agent to realtor was natural for Billy in another way. By the time he obtained his broker's license, Billy had already developed, designed and sold a number of "spec" homes. “Acting as a broker allowed me to take advantage of my various skill sets and apply a multidisciplinary approach to the representation of my clients.”
In September 2011, Billy founded The Agency upon the underlying principle that the brokerage was to operate as an undivided, integrated organization. “I found it incredibly counterintuitive that real estate brokerages not only encouraged, but expected, their agents to brand themselves as separate entities, which, in essence, put them in competition with the umbrella brokerage and their fellow agents. I knew that if we collaborated together as a team, like the law firms and talent agencies with whom I worked, we would be able to dominate the industry.”
As President of The Agency, Billy oversees not only the general (resale) practice of the company, but also the organization’s prodigious, global New Development division and The Agency Creates, a stand-alone creative agency providing design, PR, branding, social media, advertising, web design and digital marketing services for more than $4 Billion in luxury real estate, resort, development and luxury lifestyle brands.
An expert in architecture and design, Billy has served as a judge for the American Institute of Architects Residential Design Awards. He is a frequent guest speaker, panelist and commentator on all things “real estate,” having been featured in such outlets as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Forbes, Financial Times, and CNN.
A native of Los Angeles, Billy is an avid traveler, having explored the farthest corners of the globe. Billy serves on the Board of Directors of Kiss The Ground, a California-based 501(c)(3) environmental non-profit sharing the message that we can regenerate land and reverse climate change by building back healthy soil (and, in the process, save the world).
