Our round-up of properties and personalities making headlines in August

SAN FRANCISCO OFFICE → The Agency has officially announced the opening of our San Francisco office. Led by Managing Partner and industry veteran, Rachel Swann, the new office will be centrally located in SF’s coveted Noe Valley neighborhood. Read all about it on The Registry SF.

THE PLS.COM → The first private, national off-market listing forum created exclusively by agents, for agents, has launched. The membership-based service, created by Christopher Dyson in partnership with co-founders Mauricio Umansky, James Harris, and David Parnes nabbed a feature on The Real Deal.

BILLY ROSE → “Unless the house is a teardown, I can’t remember the last time that I sold a home that wasn’t staged,” says Billy, who was quoted in a story for Mansion Global on why staging is such an important component of a high-end listing sales strategy.

MALIBU COMPOUND → Ever wondered what it’s like to vacation like Drake and Rihanna? Angel Kou took E! News on a tour of a $5,000 per night Malibu compound frequented by the A-listers, complete with a game room, fully-stocked wine cellar, screening room, and infinity pool overlooking Zuma Beach.

ERIC LAVEY → Eric spoke with South China Morning Post on why an increasing number of agents are turning to film to promote luxury properties. “We like to shoot videos for 85 percent of our listings,” says Eric, who made one of the industry’s first videos in 2011.

9505 LANIA LANE → The palatial Beverly Hills estate, created by renowned developer Mohamed Hadid and represented by Stacy Gottula and Mauricio Umansky, made Forbes 2017 list of the most expensive homes for sale in the U.S.

7431 FRANKLIN AVE. → Located in the heart of the Hollywood Hills, the Stern + Kind designed Italian modernist residence fuses Japanese architecture with smart home technology. Boasting a gracious outdoor area with drought tolerant gardens and a saltwater pool, the home was recently showcased by Haute Residence.

388 LINEA TERRACE → Designer Andrew Adler and architect Anthony Poon drew inspiration from the 20th century German art movement Bauhaus to create an artistic composition of 14 minimalist-modern homes in Palm Springs. Read more on LA Times.
