Nobody understands the meaning of homeownership more than those working in real estate. It’s not only key to financial security but also a place to build a family and make memories. Helping others achieve homeownership is a cause close to our hearts at The Agency, which is why we partner with Giveback Homes.
Across the country, The Agency team members participate in regular Build Days with Habitat for Humanity to help construct affordable housing in their communities. In between developments, we also host ReStore days, where we provide much-needed support at stores that sell donated items to fund Habitat for Humanity’s projects around the world.
The most recent volunteer days saw groups from The Agency Park City, Aspen and Denver come together and contribute 128 hours of service in just one week. Here are some of the highlights.
Park City
The Agency Park City’s volunteer group returned to the Habitat for Humanity community where they first broke ground a couple of years ago to tour a house nearing completion. Just one week later, this house became a home to a city municipal worker and her son. “It was really special seeing the progress from our hours of volunteering,” said Mike Mazzone, Managing Partner of The Agency Park City.
After the tour, the team headed to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to organize donations and sort the warehouse. This operation plays a vital role in the organization’s housing process, sourcing gently used furniture, appliances and other supplies to resell at affordable prices. All proceeds assist in the purchase of land for future homeowners.
Ben Kubicki, one of The Agency’s Park City agents, has been a participating member of the local Habitat for Humanity board. In this role, he oversees the budgeting and development of various projects in the area, making sure resources are used strategically to maximize the organization’s impact. Looking forward, he and the team are excited to begin construction on a new home next summer.

Aspen
Across state lines, The Agency Aspen’s volunteer team spent a day at their local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. They divided and conquered to organize donations, restage the floor, price items and clean every corner. At the end of the day, the group bonded over pizza, drinks and shared laughs.
The proceeds that will come from this location will help fund new developments in the area, like the Basalt community that the team worked on in 2021. Today, 27 Colorado families are enjoying new affordable housing, an increasing rarity in the state. Fortunately, Habitat for Humanity just broke ground in Rifle and Glenwood Springs.

Denver
Things heated up over as The Agency Denver team kicked off their first-ever build day in 100-degree heat. That didn’t stop 15 volunteers reporting for duty to help frame the home, adding walls and a roof. They team successfully wrapped the 23rd build day since The Agency’s inception in 2011.
Habitat for Humanity Colorado has been thrilled to welcome over 20,000 volunteers since it began building homes in the Denver Metro area. With over 1,300 homes completed in the state so far, the organization anticipates adding another 200 in 2023 to help meet the rising demand for affordable housing from hardworking families, including those affected by overcrowding or in need of special enhancements due to physical requirements of residents.
Anyone is welcome to volunteer their time and help make affordable housing a reality, especially those with a talent for building, construction and painting—though it’s not required. Find volunteer opportunities and sign up here.
