Charlie Heydt

Charlie took a circuitous route to The Agency, as so many agents have. His first step towards real estate occurred while obtaining his degree in psychology at Ohio University when he took a year off to study classical art and architecture at CYA in Athens Greece. The prestigious year-long program provided him the opportunity to travel the classic worlds of the Greeks and Romans, studying their buildings and societies as well as those of present day Eastern and Western Europe.

This exposure awakened his curiosity in living environs, architecture and real estate, which would eventually lead him to The Agency. But first Charlie would again leave his comfort zone to explore another culture and its art. For two years he lived and worked as a school teacher in Japan's public school system just outside of Kyoto. While there he developed a reverence for the simplicity in design that the Japanese have mastered in both there ancient and contemporary lives, which in turn surfaces in their home design.

Acting brought Charlie back stateside where he realized a newfound respect for American urban life and design in NYC. Here he lived and worked while studying theater at various studios and also where he soon met his future wife (while performing Hamlet!).

Five years ago Charlie and his now wife journeyed to Los Angeles which they have made their new home and where Charlie was introduced to Deedee Howard, a duly respected veteran of the Los Angeles real estate world. Deedee became an invaluable mentor to Charlie as he entered the real estate business and brought him along as she became partner at an exciting new start up, the now celebrated company The Agency.

Charlie and his wife still love traveling and bringing back the art, design, food and practices of wherever they go. All of these experiences color the way he looks at homes and how they perform in the lives of his clients. He believes his time negotiating life in foreign societies and their cultures, has given him a deep appreciation for communication and a patience in understanding others, which serves him well whenever he partners with a new client to either find their perfect home or successfully market their existing properties.

Charlie is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, the California Association of REALTORS®, the Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS® and is very proud to be present for and an early part of The Agency.
