Peter’s primary career has been in Hospitality & Tourism spanning 30 years, over 3 continents (13 countries) mostly in the tropics, initially in Resort Sports Management (Scuba) managing some of the Caribbean’s largest Dive facilities, Food & Beverage Management (restaurant owner & chef) and Hotel General Management.
Real Estate has always held a strong allure for him, both his parents were “Estate Agents” in the UK; Peter worked also in the UK, in a time before Hospitality, as a rental agent in London and then while living in the Caribbean he was often involved in Real Estate referrals for both residential and tourist-based businesses.
Throughout Peter’s life, it’s always been about Business Development and Sales & Marketing campaigns. He studiously researches and understands his market, develops relatable marketing plans that are imaginative, current and can demonstrate a provable return. Enjoys the opportunity to think outside of the box, creating marketing opportunities in collaboration with others and even with the competition.
Peter arrived in Canada in 1994 with his then Canadian girlfriend whom he met two years prior in the Caribbean, Kimberly and Peter were married in Kingston Ontario and promptly moved to Toronto. As an empathetic “people” person Peter pursued a sales career, initially starting in car sales, then with success moved into the recruiting industry as a professional head-hunter. But after 10 years in Toronto, as there is no coast, no Sea nearby and therefore no joy for himself. He moved the family to Vancouver Island, back to hospitality, and back to the water, to become a Chef in his own restaurant.
The restaurant business, as Peter & his wife found out was both rewarding and challenging. Due the recession of 2008 they however closed after 5 good years, and Peter moved into Hotel Management. Initially as Director of Sales in a local Hotel then on to General Management of Major Brand hotels. This is where Peter excelled, winning many highly prestigious awards for “Excellence of Service and guest satisfaction”. As Marketing is an integral part of Hotel Management, Peter volunteered within the community and Co-founded Tourism Cowichan.
Peter was born in England, but due to his father’s zest for adventure the family moved to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) where his father started a Pool construction company. This is where he developed a love of sports Rugby, Tennis and Waterskiing. In his teens his family moved on to Durban South Africa. In South Africa he continued with Rugby, playing for the School/University, the local town and the state, enjoyed Surfing at the local beach but fell in love with Scuba Diving while visiting Mauritius. Scuba diving very quickly changed from being a recreational activity to being a professional career. Initially as a Treasure Hunter in the Caribbean and then a Scuba instructor in various resorts around the world. Peter’s personal passions are Scuba diving, Cooking and playing Guitar a love for which he has passed on to his son who is currently attending undergraduate education at the University of Victoria. His wife operates her own business as an independent Bookkeeper and Tax Accountant.
