Fine Dining and Design Collide: The Agency Partners With Lucques

by | Feb 24, 2014

The Agency recently threw an invite-only party for a stunning new architectural at 8455 Oakwood Avenue, and did so in style, pairing with a fixture of the neighborhood – the gourmet French-Mediterranean restaurant, Lucques.

“The streets due east of the Beverly Center have been a hot destination for homebuyers and home-builders in the last two years, and prices are fast on the rise,” says Paul Lester, the listing agent, who works a great deal in the neighborhood. “This area has fast become the new center for nightlife and forward-thinking restaurants and hotels, not unlike a downtown SoHo/Tribeca/NYC vibe.”

Sometimes referred to as “West West Hollywood,” the neighborhood has recently become the go-to spot for foodies and fine dining, and Lucques epitomizes the trend. Chef Suzanne Goin serves up sophisticated, light pan-Mediterranean cooking with occasional flavors from North Africa. Her carefully-balanced herbs and pickled vegetables complement the ultra-tender meat dishes, such as her braised pork cheeks and her famous short ribs.

For the evening event at 8455 Oakwood, Lucques provided gourmet hors d’oevres including goat cheese crostini with dried figs and walnuts; dungeness crab with green harissa and avocado; manchego, quince paste and romesco with marcona almonds; and prosciutto stuffed with burrata, currants and pinenuts, which guests enjoyed while exploring the design-centric house.

The “Oakwood at Alfred” house sits on a large corner lot and sets a new standard for volume and quality of craftsmanship for the neighborhood. The 6,000 sq. ft. house features an open floor plan with a living room, dining area, family room and kitchen flowing seamlessly to one another, and with walls of sliding glass doors that open onto private patios, gardens and pool. The unique angles, windows, high ceilings and proportions of the home are reminiscent of Modernist architecture throughout Los Angeles.

There are some 20 new homes in “West West Hollywood,” but 8455 Oakwood is 50% larger than most. With ample space for the VIP guests to roam, they admired the sophisticated finishes such as imported Italian tiles and Porcelanosa fixtures. Paired with Lucques amazing hors d’oevres and fine Prosecco, it was certainly a feast for the senses and a night to remember.

oakwood_foodLucques is located at 8474 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, ½ block east of La Cienega on the south side of the street.
