Kofi Stays Close To Home On Latest Episode Of “Selling LA”

by | Mar 6, 2014

On Kofi Natei Nartey’s most recent episode of HGTV’s “Selling LA,” titled “Home Court Advantage,” he is faced with the task of selling a “pocket listing” in the Westside community of Playa Vista.

In addition to keeping his contemporary 3-story unit off the public market, Kofi’s client, Terry Storm, stood firm on his asking price of $1,150,000. As a resident of Playa Vista, Kofi was especially invested in striking a deal and further establishing himself as the go-to real estate agent in the community. “This is where I live, where my family lives, so I always take selling homes here as a personal challenge,” he shared.

In the episode, Kofi explains the limitations in terms of how he could expose the property and share it with potential buyers. Without a traditional open house to show off the high ceilings and two private patios of the 3 bed/3 bath, 2,972 sq. ft. unit, Kofi embarked on a grassroots marketing campaign as a way to generate buzz. He spread the word throughout local businesses and even arranged a one-year promotion with a yoga studio, Yoga Vista, as a way to entice homebuyers and promote the healthy lifestyle of Playa Vista.

Fortunately, the owner decided to extend just enough wiggle room for Kofi to set-up a broker’s caravan and schedule private showings. Prospective buyers appreciated the personal attention, and Kofi was able to showcase not just the residence (influenced by painter Piet Mondrian) but the commitment that Playa Vista is undergoing to create more walkable community space and retail.

Not only did Kofi negotiate a closing deal of $1.1 million for his client but he did so by using creative, non-traditional methods and a deep understanding of the neighborhood he was selling in.
