Terranea Featured As Top Getaway Resort For Southern Californians

by | Jun 20, 2014

Summertime is all about getting away with the family, and for most people that involves long road trips and painful airport security lines. Not only is this sort of travel inconvenient, but it cuts into actual vacation time. Thankfully for Southern Californians, there are great luxury getaway options right nearby, within driving distance of Los Angeles.

This week, Variety featured three such world-class summer destinations, including Terranea Resort and The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage.

“Terranea boasts views that take in the chalk-white cliffs of Portuguese Bend out to Catalina Island, and north to Santa Monica Bay and Malibu,” writes Kathy A. MacDonald, in the Variety piece. She also illustrates the many family-friendly amenities and events that make the resort so enjoyable.

“Kids prefer the main pool with water slide,” she writes. “Pets are welcome, too. The atmosphere is breezy and casual, though one might dress appropriately for Mar’sel, the fine dining restaurant, which has earned accolades for its fresh take on California cuisine. Ingredients are sourced locally — the olive oil purveyor is within a mile of the resort, and executive chef Bernard Ibarra keeps beehives close by in addition to an herb and vegetable garden outside the restaurant’s front door.”

Golf 2A limited number of oceanfront vacation homes at Terranea are currently up for sale, and by owning, families and friends can get away at a moment’s notice and enjoy this resort paradise at their convenience. To learn more about the benefits of owning at Terranea, click here.

The other resorts featured in the Variety article include The Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort, Solvang and The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage.

rancho-mirage-1“Perched above the entire valley is the newly reopened Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage,” notes Variety. “A passion project if there ever was one, the hotel was closed for six years as new ownership worked out the financing for a complete redo of the hotel and grounds. The result: a 244-room resort on 12.5 acres that takes full advantage of its overlook (including an infinity pool) and the desert’s cooler evenings.”

Whatever your pleasure, there are plenty of close destinations for family getaways this summer that don’t involve all the hassle of traveling overseas. Just pack a bag and be on your way.
