It’s not everyday that beauty is matched with a commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. That’s why we’re thrilled to share the news that one of our international new development clients, the luxurious 5-star resort Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali, has been awarded the prestigious Gold Certification from EarthCheck.
Widely regarded as the world’s most rigorous environmental management program, EarthCheck has been designed specifically for the travel and tourism industry. The Alila Villas Uluwatu received gold status by continuing to show high standards of environmental management and was required to submit a year’s worth of operational data for benchmarking against internationally recognized standards of best practice.
“Achieving EarthCheck Gold Certification is not an easy task”, explains EarthCheck CEO Stewart Moore. “There are no short cuts, no ways to buy your way in; it’s a matter of being able to prove the integrity of an organisation’s operational practices year-in and year-out, and then be willing to have everything verified by an independent, third party auditor.” In fact, the resort was the first in Inonesia to receive this certification, and 2014 marks five continuous years of upholding that tradition.
To foster eco-friendliness, the villas engage with the local community whenever possible, from sourcing produce and supplies to hiring resort staff. Although not all practices are visible to guests, such as the use of recycled building materials and wastewater treatment, it’s all part of a larger commitment to strengthen the local economy while minimize environmental impact. The Alila Villas Uluwatu are truly designed in harmony with the surrounding environment.
Poised on a clifftop plateau along the scenic southern coast of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, Alila Uluwatu is nothing short of spectacular. Rediscover the joy of pure relaxation and serenity as an owner of one of Alila’s exquisitely designed Bali luxury villas, unique vacation homes in one of the world’s most desirable destinations.
