Coast to coast, Los Cabos, Mexico is making headlines as one of the top places to visit in 2015. The idyllic destination on the southernmost tip of the California Baja Peninsula topped the Los Angeles Times' 15 Destinations for Travelers to Set their Sights on in 2015. While Cabo San Lucas has long been a famous destination, its sister city, the charming town of San José del Cabo, was selected in the recent New York Times article, 52 Places To Go In 2015, a compilation of must-see destinations, and familiar places with new reasons to visit.
San José del Cabo has remained a traditionally quaint Mexican town, even as Los Cabos has grown into a modern, internationally acclaimed destination. Exuding an authentic charm, San José is centered around its original proud mission church, with narrow streets, festive plazas, boutique shopping and thriving art and foodie scenes. Color and creativity flow from the old adobe buildings every Thursday night (November–April), when the streets close down and more than 20 galleries in the flourishing Art District open their doors displaying striking original works of art, handcrafted clothing and jewelry. The Art Walk is a festive block party often featuring street performers and live music as people gallery-hop and stop into their favorite restaurants.

San José del Cabo’s carefully restored colonial buildings open to elegantly lit courtyards where some of Mexico’s finest restaurants offer al fresco dining and authentic cuisine with nouveau Mexican flavors. On the outskirts of town, a number of organic farms produce locally grown fresh produce, giving rise to an emerging “farm to table” scene. Every Saturday, farmers bring their bounty to the San José Organic Market, a popular local event for the whole family, featuring fresh produce, delicious cuisine, arts and crafts, live music and much more. San Jose also offers miles of unspoiled beach, year-round surf breaks, a wildlife-rich estuary, and the Puerto Los Cabos Marina, the perfect mooring spot for private yachts.
Los Cabos draws more than just the vacation crowd to its pristine shores. It is one of the most affluent areas in Mexico and a major secondhome market for American buyers drawn to its rare combination of temperate climate, physical beauty and rich cultural history, just a two-and-a-half hour flight from Los Angeles. Magnificent resort homes line the coast, and The Agency represents two of Cabo’s finest seaside residential and beach club communities which offer unobstructed ocean views, world-class amenities and personalized service.
In San José del Cabo, Espiritu, the new residential resort community adjacent to the renowned One&Only Palmilla, is a 75-acre enclave of exquisite architectural homes from three-bedroom villas to sprawling 10,000-square foot custom estates that beautifully blend indoor and outdoor living.
Homeowners and resort guests enjoy absolute privacy, personal butler and chef service, and endless amenities that include a private beach club, ocean-view fitness club, sailing catamaran, kids’ club and 27-hole golf course. Just a short walk or golf cart ride away are miles of pristine beach, boutique shopping, art galleries and acclaimed restaurants. View vacation rentals here.
