The newly-renovated, custom estate at 2121 La Mesa was featured last week as the Wall Street Journal’s “House of the Day.”

‘The street itself is very prized and the house is kind of a unicorn,” Sandra Brass told the WSJ. “It’s contemporary, which is unusual on the west side of L.A., and it has spaces with lots of volume and drama.”

As the WSJ points out, the home was originally built in 1981 for Steel Magnolias and Footloose director Herbert Ross, but has undergone major renovations since then and is now quite contemporary. “Part of the most-recent renovation was to ‘shake some of the ‘80s’ off, Ms. Brass says. ‘There wasn’t a single spot of the house we didn’t touch.” The home is currently listed for $23 million.
