March Madness is upon us, and the only cure for it is a good sports bar and plenty of basketball. Here are five spots sure to do the trick.
Get here early for major games, because Happy Endings fills up fast. This sports bar is notorious not only for its festive ambiance, but also for its world-class comfort food. Cheer on your favorite teams while enjoying Drunken BBQ Chicken Quesadillas or Crisp Banana Cheesecake “Bunuelos.”
With locations in Santa Monica, Westwood, West Hollywood, Burbank and Pasadena, Barney’s Beanery is many an Angeleno’s favorite place to experience The Madness. A classic pub scene with a great selection of beers and pretty much any type of food you can think of, Barney’s is a great spot for to meet up with your college friends and cheer on your alma mater.
3. The Parlor
This West Hollywood lounge is a great place to relax in style and take in a game. With wrap-around leather sofas, private tables, over 50 HD TV’s and a state-of-the-art AV system – not to mention the excellent bar – expect The Parlor to fill up fast. By the Sweet 16, you’ll want to get here early.
This Eastside spot near Sunset Junction has been increasingly popular in recent years, and not just with hipsters. Minutes from iconic spots like Intelligentsia, Pazzo Gelato, Cafe Stella, Secret Headquarters and more, this low-profile joint offers excellent service, a down-to-earth crowd, and a selection of TVs that are visible from pretty much anywhere in the house (and outside too).
While they mainly specialize in soccer, basketball will be taking over Goal Sports Café for the next few weeks. Surround yourself with fellow fans and wall-to-wall screens as you enjoy comfort food such as mozzarella sticks and their delicious Goal Sliders. There are also lots of beers on tap from around the country, so enjoy a regional specialty to match your team.
