How The Underline Will Change The Way You See Miami

by | Jun 8, 2015

Architizer interviewed Meg Daly, founder of Friends of The Underline regarding her idea to transform the Miami Underline. As one of the five finalists for Pitching In The City 2015, presented by Mas and Architizer, she hopes to create a space that will connect surrounding communities, encourage outdoor exercise, be a canvas for artistic expression, and attract development. The idea, reminiscent of New York’s High Line, will transform underutilized land below Miami’s MetroRail from the Miami River to Dadeland South Station. Inspiration for the project came when Meg suffered a terrible accident, causing her to be dependent upon public transportation. During this time, she witnessed how much of a need there was to revitalize the Miami Underline with the opportunity to create an inviting linear park, urban trail, and art destination. In the interview with Architizer, Meg mentions what an honor it is to “share the stage with such exciting, innovative projects. I am thrilled to see so much civic engagement and activism throughout the world.”
