Spreading The Love At Union Rescue Mission

The soul is healed by being with children.
-Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Russian novelist and philosopher

The Agency and Giveback Homes had the honor of spending the day with the children of the Union Rescue Mission on Saturday, February 13. The day was filled with smiles as nearly 20 from The Agency team, decked in The Agency red, volunteered their time to bring Valentine’s Day joy, everyday necessities – and holiday sweets – to the children.

Kids_Outreach-3The interaction with the little ones took center stage as The Agency team played games, danced and spent time with the children. On the docket of fun for the nearly 60 kids in attendance were opportunities to create Valentine’s Day cards, posters and other crafts, cookie decorating and the hit of the day: the ice cream sundae bar!

“I’m so glad that we were able to come down to the Mission and meet the kids,” said Billy Rose, Co-founder and President at The Agency. “It’s imperative that The Agency is involved with efforts that affect change for even the youngest members of our community, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the Union Rescue Mission.”

The Kids-Outreach-2Union Rescue Mission is focused on outreach, emergency services, transformation and restoration of men, women and children experiencing homelessness. Their goal is to give them hope and healing for a changed life.

“I was touched by the whole experience,” said James Harris, star of Million Dollar Listing LA. “The mission is truly making a change in the lives of the children and their families. Union Rescue Mission isn’t providing just a quick fix, instead they’re making a long-term investment to help families establish goals and create routines that they will be able to emulate once they leave the mission.”

The Union Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization established in 1891. They are one of the largest rescue missions in the United States and also the oldest in Los Angeles.
