HAVE TEATIME HERE → The much anticipated Alfred Tea Room will open its “Pretty in Pink” spot on May 16. The Melrose Place location will serve up match, boba and nitro chai on draft, with over 20 different tea varieties from various makers. Everything will be available hot, iced or as a latte. Open daily from 9 am to 6 pm. #TeaYesYouMaybe

Strawberry FestivalGO HERE The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, returning to Village Green Park May 27 through May 30. The event will be full of rides, parades, game booths, music and plenty of strawberry themed treats. Plan on attending opening night? You’re in luck! Festival tradition is to cut and serve the world’s largest strawberry shortcake, free while it lasts! Admission to the festival is free, but unlimited all-day rides can be purchased.

RIDE THIS → L.A. Metro Expo Line extension grand opening on May 20. Enjoy free rides on Friday and Saturday (May 20 and 21) from all stations, not just the new extension. The 7 new stations include Downtown Santa Monica, 17th Street/ Santa Monica College, 26th Street/Bergamot, Expo/Bundy, Palms, Westwood/Rancho Park, and Expo/Sepulveda. Want to head Downtown from Santa Monica? Fear not, the Expo line will take you there, without getting stuck in traffic on I-10 or paying those pesky Uber surge charges.

HEAD TO → TEDxUCLA on May 21 brings together innovators from UCLA and beyond. This year’s theme, “Stretch”, calls for ideas that stretch our imagination, current beliefs and hopes for the future. With over 15 speakers at this year’s event, expect to hear from Kristen Paglia, CEO of P.S. ARTS, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s lives by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities. Also appearing is Ryland Engelhart, Co-Owner / Chief Inspiration Officer of Cafe Gratitude and Co-Founder of Kiss The Ground, a non-profit that inspires and educates the public about the connection between soil, human and planetary health.

chicas-tacos-sign.0.0EAT HERE  → Chicas Tacos, bringing fast, casual and authentic Mexican tacos to Downtown, their Olive Street address will transform the location into something much airier and more colorful. With plans to open by May 30, the menu (still in progress) will include tacos, aguas frescas and more.

SHOP HERE → Kitross, legendary retailer Kitson’s comeback store. The shop will open in the retail icon’s former Robertson space, founder Fraser Ross confirms. The concept of the new store will be more take-and-go items (giftables) and also feature local designers, offering women’s, men’s and kids apparel and accessories. The new boutique is set to open before Memorial Day weekend.

WATCH THIS → The Bachelorette kicks off May 23, and season 12 promises to be bigger and better than the last with surprise guest stars, more crazy contestants, exotics dates (firefighting boot camp anyone?) and more for the 25-year old real estate developer JoJo Fletcher. Watch as JoJo picks from the 26 men competing to win her heart. Who’s ready?

DOWNWARD DOG HERE → At Grip The Mat’s Vinyasa to Vino event on May 25. Join the group for a feel-good yoga session followed by wine tasting. Grip The Mat takes your favorite yoga class and turns it into a pop-up social experience. Yoga + wine, brunch or craft cocktails? Sign us up. The concept is meant to be fun and feel good, while connecting you with other members and introducing you to new unique spaces and local businesses and products.

GET IN ‘FORMATION’ HERE → Queen B herself touches down in L.A. on May 14 at the Rose Bowl as part of her first solo world tour since 960x02013. The over 27-song set will include new tracks from her recent release Lemonade, to classic favorites like “Run the World,” “Drunk in Love” and even “Bootylicious.” You’ll be filled with moments of female empowerment, stunning imagery and outfits (a crystal-encrusted Dsquared2 bodysuit to start). So, grab your friends and watch as Beyoncé slays. All hail the Queen.
