Paradise With A Side Of Puppies

by | Feb 14, 2017

White sand beaches. Crystal clear waters. Exquisite coral reefs. And puppies!?!? Just when we thought Turks and Caicos couldn’t possibly get any dreamier, we discovered Potcake Place, a volunteer-run organization that rescues stray Potcake pups and offers canine-friendly vacationers a little oceanside cuddle time.

Located in Grace Bay on the north shore of Providenciales (also known as the world’s best beach), the organization fosters an average of 50 Potcakes at a time, all eagerly awaiting forever homes. Typically a mix of Labrador, German Shepherd, and Fox Hound Terrier, the cuddly canines take their name from the leftover grub locals would feed them from the bottom of their cooking pots… and they’re just about the cutest things we’ve ever seen.

If you’re lucky enough to be visiting Turks and Caicos, you can stop by the organization’s headquarters and score a playdate on the beach with one of these adorable pups, and Potcake Place will provide you with all the provisions needed for two hours of fun under the Caribbean sun. Should you be struck with separation anxiety when your time is up, there’s a cure for that: all of the dogs are available for adoption, which means you can literally take a little bit of paradise home with you.

If you don’t have a trip planned to the islands anytime soon, this just might be the perfect excuse to start packing. For information about visiting Potcake Place or adopting a pup of your own, visit the organization’s website.
