It was a brisk and beautiful week for the 2018 Genesis Open, which drew thousands to The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades to watch the world’s best compete for the trophy. Considered among the best competitions in golf, the tournament attracts the PGA TOUR’s brightest stars, with this year’s defending champion Dustin Johnson highlighting a prestigious course that annually plays host to Olympians and Ryder Cup legends.
On Sunday, February 18th, the final day of the tournament, The Agency presented the tournament’s esteemed VIP Backlot, a posh, glass-enclosed lounge overlooking the 18th hole. President Billy Rose and CEO Mauricio Umansky mingled alongside esteemed guests and fellow agents while catching the final, heated moments of the tournament. Guests indulged in signature cocktails from sponsor Grey Goose, including the Grey Goose Back Nine, a stiff spin on the classic Arnold Palmer—so named for one of the tournament’s famous competitors—and everyone’s Sunday afternoon favorite, Le Citron Bloody Mary.
The spirited weekend came to an end when two-time master champion and lefty Bubba Watson took the tournament, winning for the third time in five years. With three birdies over his final eight holes, Watson holed an improbable bunker shot to land a two-stroke lead over competitors Kevin Na and Tony Finau, winning a $1.3 million payout and the prestigious winner’s trophy, presented by tournament host Tiger Woods.
