Linea Receives 2018 Best in Housing National Award from AIA

by | May 30, 2018

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) recently announced its top 11 residential projects for 2018, and The Agency is proud to announce that Linea Residence G, one of 14 luxurious, minimalist architectural estates in the heart of Palm Springs, was the recipient of the institute’s prestigious 2018 Best in Housing National Award.

Represented by Rich Nolan, Managing Director of The Agency’s Palm Springs office, the project is a stunning collaboration between designer Andrew Adler and architect Anthony Poon. Boasting striking, head-on west and south-facing mountain range views, the artistic composition of all-white residences emphasizes expanse, proportion, light, and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Inspired by history’s sculptors and Bauhaus painters, the collection has set a new standard for modern design in the posh desert enclave.

“This project’s minimal lines, walls of glass, measured proportions, and sculptural massing deliver iconic architecture while unapologetically purging traditional ornamentation,” AIA said of the project. The jury added, “This house is remarkably beautiful and contextually appropriate, especially given the stated cost per square foot. It seems to have a wealth of features and a design that accentuates the nearby landscape.”

Over the past few years, Alta Verde Group, helmed by Andrew Adler, has completed more than 200 homes in the Palm Springs area. Under the thesis of “Modern for the Masses,” the firm’s focus on sustainability and economy in design has ignited a new movement in the region. Two homes in the development, 3068 Linea Terrace and 3091 Linea Terrace, are currently on the market, with an additional six homes to debut later this year, including two of three remaining G floor plans. Set behind gates, the residences all feature flat, half-acre lots and showcase sliding Fleetwood walls of glass, panoramic mountain views, and a host of sustainable features, such as cool top roofs and a six-kilowatt solar system.

“It’s an honor to represent such an architecturally significant collection of homes,” says Rich. “Linea represents a minimalist modern approach unlike anything Palm Springs has ever seen. Congratulations to Andrew and Anthony, who created what is unquestionably among the most innovative collection of residences to grace Palm Springs in decades.”
