New Year, New Street: Introducing Encino’s Harper Way

by | Jan 9, 2019

It’s no secret the Valley is on a hot streak. And if the proverbial ‘neighborhood over the hill’ had a heartbeat, it would surely be Encino. With its award-winning schools, tight-knit neighborhood charm and easy access to the Westside, Angelenos and L.A. transplants alike are setting their sights on the San Fernando Valley suburb. The neighborhood is so popular, in fact, they’re creating new streets to heed the demand.

Enter Harper Way. The exclusive, gated three-home community off Encino’s famed Havenhurst Avenue is the result of an exhaustive, four-year process on the part of visionary owner and developer Evan Gaskin. What was once a modest ranch home and virtual no-man’s land has been transformed into an idyllic, gated community of three beautiful estates, which represent the prized attributes driving families, creative professionals and celebrities to the area.

A small, quintessential San Fernando Valley Ranch home once owned by Queens of the Stone Age rocker Josh Homme is now 4420 Harper Way, one of the three private residences in the gated enclave. Built in 2018 by Gaskin Design and represented by Craig Knizek and Ingrid Sacerio, the Hamptons-inspired residence offers the perfect blend of quality, style and privacy. Showcasing 6,189 square feet of living space, a welcoming, spacious floor plan is highlighted by east-west natural light and replete with gorgeous finishes throughout. Enviable amenities include a voluminous chef’s kitchen, movie theatre, and generous master suite with an expansive deck, showroom closet and spa-like bathroom. La Cantina folding doors off airy living spaces open to a sprawling, grassy entertainer’s backyard with multiple lounge areas, a built-in barbecue, covered dining area and picturesque pool and spa.

“4420 Harper Way represents a new phase in the luxury Encino lifestyle while harkening back to a simpler time when children played outside until the street lights turned on,” says Craig. “It is truly a neighborhood gem. And if buyers are searching for exclusivity… the home warranted its own street—does it get more exclusive than that? Ingrid and I are honored to represent this incredible property and can’t wait to introduce a second home in the collection in the coming months.”

A true labor of love, Harper Way—named after Gaskin’s young niece—was no doubt a challenge to realize. The street’s relative seclusion (now a winning attribute) required everything from telephone pole removal to a 20,000-square-foot count storm drain easement, with countless meetings and phone calls to the city and county along the way. The result, however, is nothing short of extraordinary.

“The street itself is supremely private while offering an incredible proximity to the best of Encino,” says Ingrid. “It’s just moments from award-winning Lanai Road Elementary, local houses of worship, and offers easy access to the Westside while being in the heartbeat of all the neighborhood has to offer.”
