The Agency Agenda Pasadena: What to Do + Where to Go This May

by | Apr 30, 2019

Our picks of places to go and things to do to make the most of your month in Pasadena.

PLAN YOUR NEXT GETAWAY HERE – Whether you’re looking to liven up your honeymoon itinerary or plan the perfect solo adventure, you’ll find all the inspiration you need—and then some—at The Travel Expo. Taking place May 11th at Pasadena Convention Center, the expo will bring leaders, influencers, travelers, tour operators and representatives from around the world together for a day of panel discussions, roundtables and more, all designed to inspire and elevate your next travel experience.

REVISIT THE PAST HERE – Presented by The Monrovia Historic Preservation Group, the 37th Historic Homes Tour on May 5th will showcase six of the first homes built in the neighborhood— predating the end of 1887. In keeping with the tour’s throwback theme, vintage “horseless carriages” will roam the streets for the day, while knowledgeable docents will be stationed inside each home, ready to share stories, anecdotes and architectural details with curious attendees. AND HERE: One of Pasadena’s most historically and architecturally significant neighborhoods, Madison Heights is home to an impressive assemblage of famed designer homes by the likes of Greene & Greene, Frederick Louis Roehrig, Sylvanus Marston, Reginald Johnson, Heineman & Heineman, Hunt & Grey, and Louis B. Easton. Pasadena Heritage is offering a guided walking tour of the neighborhood on May 11th.

GET YOUR CYCLE ON HERE – The Amgen Tour of California, which kicks off May 12th in Sacramento, wraps up May 18th right here in Pasadena. The Tour de France-style cycling road race brings the world’s top professional cycling teams together for a heated race along California’s iconic highways and coastlines. The Lifestyle Festival, held on May 18th at Rose Bowl Stadium, offers fans an opportunity to interact with exhibitors and enjoy music, live streams, a kids’ race and adult refreshments before cheering on their favorite teams as they cross the finish line.

SHOP HERE – Held every second Sunday of the month, Rose Bowl Flea Market draws treasure hunters from around the country to Pasadena’s world-famous Rosebowl Stadium in search of collectable midcentury furniture, vintage clothing, rare vinyl records and more. Since this month’s flea happens to fall on Mother’s Day, why not bring mom along for some Sunday shopping and let her pick her own surprise? If you’re feeling extra generous, treat her to early entry so she can have her first pick of the best goods—just be sure to set your alarm, as gates open at 7AM sharp!
