Our picks of places to go and things to do to make the most of your month in and around Puerto Vallarta, Punta de Mita and Los Cabos.

CATCH SOME WAVES HERE – Punta Mita is hosting its annual Punta Mita Surf Camp beginning July 31 through August 2, featuring two Mexican surf legends, Diego Cadena and Coco Nogales. They’ll be joined by SUP experts and yoga instructors for an extraordinary program of surf, SUP and yoga along the scenic Punta Mita coastline. The event offers personalized instruction for everyone from the novice to the seasoned pro.

GET THE KIDS PADDLING HERE – One of Punta Mita’s most popular activities for younger residents and guests is the SUPKids Camp, coming July 1-4 and July 8-11.  This year’s event will again offer amazing adventures for kids, helping to build their confidence both on and off the water. Kids will learn water safety and the marine environment in a non-competitive, inclusive setting, with each day bringing new adventures at locations around Punta Mita, including Kupuri Beach Club, Pacifico Beach Club and Sufi Ocean Club. The camp encourages environmental consciousness and provides an engaging setting for making lifelong memories.

GET YOUR TENNIS FIX HERE – If your travels bring you to the shores of the California Baja Peninsula, the Los Cabos Mifel Open Tournament, part of the ATP World Tour category, is one of the top-rated tennis events of the year. Held July 29 – August 3, the event at Cabo del Mar features 28 singles and 16 doubles teams, national and international players alike, all competing in a one-of-a-kind location.

CATCH THE BIG ONE HERE – The 13th annual Bahía de Banderas Fishing Tournament returns to the waters off Riviera Nayarit, drawing fishing enthusiasts from around the world. Enrollment begins at the Paradise Village Yacht Club on Thursday, July 18, with two full days of fishing to follow on Friday and Saturday. Departing from Marina Hotel Paradise Village, participants compete for marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi prizes in the fun-filled and thrilling tournament event.

OR HERE – One of the largest fishing tournaments in Southern Baja, the 15th annual East Cape Dorado Shoot Out, returns July 20 at the Van Wormer Resorts in Los Barriles, the charming town situated on the Sea of Cortez to the northeast of Los Cabos. More than 130 teams enter the event each year, competing for more than $200,000 in cash and prizes. The rules are simple, catch the heaviest dorado, tuna and wahoo on the day of the event, then enjoy the award ceremony with dinner, live music and more than $30,000 in raffle items given away.
