So, you’ve got a new place—time to celebrate! Welcome friends and family into your fresh digs with a housewarming party. Here, we spotlight five tips for throwing a fun, stress-free fête that will help you and your guests feel at home in your new abode.

POTLUCK THEME - Get to know your new neighbors by opting for a potluck party. Ask guests to bring over their favorite dishes (always nice conversation starters) and be sure to provide plenty of cocktails, mocktails and additional snacks.

EASY SNACKS TO SERVE - If you’d rather provide the eats yourself, consider savory and sweet options that can be made in bulk and stay fresh for a while—appealing to guests at all stages of the party. Make a tray of ham and swiss cheese sliders (and be liberal with the dijon and onion top coat) or set out a DIY nacho bar with all the fixings. For something sweet, offer this cherry cheesecake dip alongside graham crackers, vanilla cookie wafers or pretzels.

SCAVENGER HUNT - Get guests to lead themselves on a tour of your home with a fun scavenger hunt. Hide items in various rooms and create a map for folks to follow. Before you know it, guests will have seen the place—and you didn’t have to play tour guide!

FUN COCKTAILS AND MOCKTAILS - Big batch cocktails can be tricky, but this mojito punch is a refreshing failsafe—set it out in self-serve pitchers or large jugs with a dispenser. For some something slightly sweet, pass around frozen fruit pops in a generous flute of Champagne or prosecco.

PARTY FAVORS - Depending on the size of the party (and your budget), consider sending guests home with a little something to make their space a little cozier—like a candle or lavender sachets. Snacks are always a win—think small jars of popcorn with a “Thanks for popping by” tag, or tiny to-go bags of homemade cookies.
