Local artists, delectable bites and a live DJ brought the perfect amount of modern Downtown L.A. energy to the recent cocktail party at 939 S Broadway. The former home of the historic Western Costume Building was recently refreshed, offering one- and two-bedroom, industrial-chic condominiums in one of L.A.’s most dynamic neighborhoods, which is brimming with galleries, theaters, restaurants and cafes.
Upon arrival, guests enjoyed spicy tuna with crispy rice from Silver Lake Ramen DTLA, then toured model residences, each of which displayed vibrant pop-up art installations by local artists Sarah Bosworth, Mike Norice and Laura Grier, as well as pop-up retail displays by Andeana Hats and HuntedFox.
After perusing the airy residences, guests headed to the stylish rooftop terrace where a live DJ and sweeping views of the city skyline were on full display and sparkling wine and handcrafted cocktails were served. Throughout the evening, local restaurants featured some of their greatest hits, including donuts from Birdie’s LA, Chica's Tacos and charcuterie from Bites & Bashes.
Neighboring the Ace Hotel, 939 S Broadway was first built in 1925 by renowned architect Kenneth MacDonald Jr. and boasts iconic Renaissance Revival-style exterior architecture and newly renovated, 505 to 1,227-square-foot residences, which feature stainless steel appliances, Quartz countertops and high ceilings. The structure’s original, towering windows capture abundant natural light and reveal expansive views of Downtown Los Angeles from day to night.
“This event perfectly captures the invigorating Downtown L.A. lifestyle and shows why 939 S. Broadway is so special,” says Hana Cha, managing director of The Agency Development Group, which represents marketing and sales of the property. “The building is historic, cool, fresh and modern all at once. Plus, the rooftop terrace and its far-reaching views are unforgettable.”
