Restaurateur and wealth manager Kerry Moy has joined the growing number of executives and entrepreneurs who now call Downtown Los Angeles home. Moy, who has 11 restaurants in Southern California, including Wokano and the Green Hut Cafe in Downtown L.A., has purchased a one-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a den at The Ritz-Carlton Residences at L.A. The star-studded attention and summer-like temperatures in January are reason enough, but in true California fashion, we’ve given the rest of the country something else to be jealous about: our ability to cultivate an outdoor haven well after the sun has set. As was the case with our earliest ancestors, the magestic nature of fire still remains a focal point of human interaction today. A dream home in California just isn’t complete unless your gathering with friends has been beckoned outside by the warm glow of an outdoor fire. Sorry, candles…you don’t cut the cake anymore. Here are five properties that really turn up the heat.

Some referred to it as “Sportsageddon” while others called it “Playoff-Palooza”—either way, last weekend in Downtown Los Angeles marked an unprecedented amount of action for the entertainment powerhouse AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group), owner and developer of the Ritz Carlton Residences at LA LIVE. The Staples Center and LA LIVE! complex were host to tens of thousands of fans shuffling back and forth to watch their favorite athletes hit hockey pucks, three-point shots and the pavement.

When Staples Center General Manager Lee Zeidman received Sunday’s schedule, his response was, “you’ve got to be kidding.“ The arena had to seamlessly coordinate a Kings’ playoff game in the afternoon followed by a Clippers’ playoff battle that evening—not to mention

Following the release of its annual "Celebrity 100" list, a ranking of America’s most powerful stars, Forbes asked The Agency's Billy Rose what qualities in a home do the world's most powerful celebrities look for most when buying in Los Angeles.

“The number one feature celebrities need in a house is that it’s ‘stoparazzi,’” said Rose, who noted that his clients mostly prefer properties that are "quietly tucked behind long, gated driveways, outfitted with extensive security systems and guard houses." Rose tells Forbes that privacy concerns often begin long before the celebrity is settled into their home. It’s not uncommon for Rose to have to deal with a pack of paparazzi when taking a celebrity house-hunting around L.A. How does Rose address this

I have often been asked the question: What is the best neighborhood in Los Angeles? Being a native Angelino to me the answer to the question is not where is the best place but rather what fits your lifestyle the best and is your living space an extension of your personality. For me, the East side fits the bill.

L.A. is never short on personality, and that’s especially true on the East Side. Many leading architects have designed and built homes throughout the area, providing a diverse selection of architectural styles to choose from. The proximity to the Silver Lake Reservoir, Griffith Park Observatory and the Downtown L.A. skyline create an incredible feel and offer spectacular views of many of the city’s most famous landmarks.

The proverbial American Dream isn't one that's always fulfilled on U.S. soil. Just ask Joanne and Bruce Kerner, two television producers who found success and well-being more than 7,000 miles away on the South Island of New Zealand.

As a second act to prolific careers in Hollywood, the couple bought 99-acres of land in the breathtakingly beautiful Marlborough region of New Zealand, converted it to a vineyard and built a spacious 6,458-square-foot home on the property designed for both entertaining and enjoying the solitude of the countryside. The two have since created a family business, Kerner Estate, that produces award-winning wine and olive oil, all the while soaking up the good life of living and working in one of the most scenic places on the
