News Anchor Katie Couric buys $12MM Condo

by | Mar 30, 2016

Katie Couric and husband John Molner just purchased an extravagant new condo on the Upper East Side. The condo, located at 151 East 78th Street, is a brand new building recently completed by Peter Pennoyer Architects. The building only has 14 residences spread across 16 floors. The condo consists of nearly 4,000 square feet and has 4 bedrooms and a library, not to mention just about everything you need to feel “at home”. There is something to be said about new construction. Not only are you getting every aspect of the building in its best condition, but you are also the first owner to live in your home, something impossible to replicate. That’s not to take anything away from existing homes with charm from different architectural eras, but new is still new. New car smell also applies to homes. The condo was originally listed for $10.95M. So why was the final price tag $12M? Easy. There was healthy competition for this particular unit. Based on the listing pictures though, it easily could have sold for another $1M.

Modern Artheader

The condo was designed to function just as much as a work of art as a home. From the wood floors to the full length windows and the handcrafted ceilings, you’re standing in a masterpiece. Each room was masterfully crafted from head to toe, and no detail was missed. The kitchen cabinets deliver a “wow” factor. The kitchen has classic, clean lines that add to the modern feel of the condo. Truly beautiful.

A glimpse into life at 151 East 78th Street

For $12M, you expect the building to offer top notch amenities to its residents. This co-op doesn’t disappoint. The building has its own live-in manager, gym and a personal training/yoga studio. The property also has convenient on-site bike storage facilities as well as outdoor space featuring a private garden. Imagine being able to refresh after a hard day in your own private garden. Granted Katie and John have to share this perk with other building residents. Still, it’s a nice way to either start or end the day.
