Backed by a team of devoted animal-lovers, one of The Agency’s own hosted a happy hour fundraiser and donation drive to support local Scottsdale shelter, Foothills Animal Rescue. Founded in 1995, the shelter works to find foster and permanent homes for abandoned and surrendered cats and dogs.

“I am so inspired by the work of Foothills Animal Rescue,” says Yvonne Matejka, who spearheaded the event. “I know how much love animals bring to people’s lives—adopting my dog, Disko, was such a special moment in my life. The dogs and cats at Foothills Animal Rescue need our support, and I wanted to harness the power of our team and our local network of friends, clients and family to bring attention to this great organization.”

The Agency joined forces with Giveback Homes in Park City, Utah and Culver City, California to help construct residences for two families in need. Since its founding in 2013, the organization has mobilized teams of volunteer homebuilders and spearheaded fundraising events to support the construction of permanent housing for those in need.

Giving back is part of the cultural fabric of The Agency, and our agents and staff are committed to doing their part to make a difference. From a charity bike ride from London to Paris in support of prostate cancer research to a give-back shopping event at Christian Louboutin benefiting teenage moms in the foster care system, here’s a look at four agents and the work they do to make the world a better place.

After losing his father to small cell prostate cancer, a particularly aggressive cancer with very little funding for research, Gideon Lang-Laddie set out to make a difference, structuring PROSTATE1000 as a feeder fund to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. The holidays may be over, but anytime is a good time to spread a little cheer. From serving up hot meals at a nearby shelter to spending time with local kids or volunteering as a motivational speaker, the following L.A.-based organizations can always benefit from a helping hand. What better way to jumpstart 2017 than by giving back?

Union Rescue Mission

This past August, The Agency spent an afternoon preparing and serving up lunch to the homeless at Union Rescue Mission, and it was, by far, one of the most rewarding experiences of our year. Founded 125 years ago, the organization offers a variety of programs designed to provide the city’s homeless and hungry with guidance, support, and hope for a better future. (Photo: Benjamin Shmikler/ABImages) The seventh annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade is an epicurean cookout dedicated to cancer victim Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996–2004), who started her own charity—the eponymous Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation—for raising money to increase awareness of childhood cancer, treatments, and cures. This gourmet foodie’s affair has since raised over $3.2 million to fund childhood cancer research, raising more than $1 million at the 2015 event alone. The event will be packed with delicious food, wine and cocktails, an abundance of children’s activities, and live and silent auctions offering exclusive experiences and packages. Along with hosts Chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner, Caroline Styne (of Lucques, A.O.C., and Tavern), and chef David Lentz (the…
