Jewelry Magnate David Yurman Buys NYC Penthouse

by | Mar 9, 2016

David and Sybil Yurman recently closed on a penthouse apartment at 481 Greenwich St. According to The New York Post, the final sales price was $9.975M. To put it in perspective, it is the top floor penthouse at 481 Greenwich, a six story building built in 1909. It’s adjacent to the couple’s existing penthouse, 6C. This begs the question, what do the Yurman’s envision for 6C? Will it be on the market soon, or do they have other plans? Realtors and real estate geeks alike are dying to know.

Industrial Rootsheader

481 Greenwich was originally an industrial warehouse with steel columns, brick walls, and concrete slabs. More than 100 years later, this industrial warehouse is unrecognizable as a boutique condominium catering to the ultra-rich. Looking back at some of the original listing photos, the unit’s hardwood floor seem to go on for miles and miles due to the open floor plan and high ceilings. Industrial beams provide support throughout the entire apartment. The walls have exposed brick to remind you of the history of this 20th century warehouse-cum-luxury apartment building. The natural light allowed to come in through all angles of the apartment let the owners know they made the right choice. Imagine eating breakfast, cooking lunch, or drinking evening cocktails with that natural light. It wouldn’t be hard to find your “motivation” on a daily basis living in a penthouse like this.  Surrounded by such beauty, you hope both the new owners fully appreciate their experience.

Rooftop Oasis

If having the penthouse wasn’t inspiring enough, 6B also comes with over 3,000 square feet of outdoor living space. With the outdoor terrace, you have the option to experience the outdoors as you see fit. It really is luxury and privacy on a different level. Stairs leading up to a private deck provide you with what I can only imagine are breathtaking views of the city. In this concrete jungle known as New York City, luxury and beauty are ever present. You just have to stop, look around, and appreciate where you are. Of course, it doesn’t hurt if you’re in your private penthouse surrounded by the beautiful New York City skyline.
