As a neighborhood resource for parents and soon-to-be parents in and around Los Angeles, The Agency’s Michelle Schwartz is interviewing dynamic moms and dads and asking for their valuable insights on the neighborhoods they live in. Today, Michelle talks with Carin McGrath, who lives in Studio City with her husband Mark McGrath (TV personality, entrepreneur and lead singer of Sugar Ray) and their twins Hartley and Lydon. Originally from Rancho Cucamonga, Carin lived on the Westside of Los Angeles for 20 year until moving to Studio City.

Technology continues to exert a dramatic impact on our economy; iPads, smart phones, Wi-Fi, virtual offices continue to change the manner in which we work. It’s now a reality that more than 30 million Americans conduct some business from their home. That ability to shift the paradigm of the typical workday, so as to not have to drive miles through traffic-choked freeways to sit at a desk, is enhanced and accommodated by having a legitimate workspace in your home.

The result is a perfect union between the glamour of the roaring 20’s and today’s modern lifestyle. From floor to ceiling, nearly every accent and finish was custom designed to provide a truly elegant and warm environment.

Los Angeles is home to arguably the most diverse number of architectural styles, yet none seem to lift us up off our feet quite like a French Chateau. Perhaps it is the large, formal floor plans offering plenty of room to roam or that there is no shortage of windows and arched doorways to illuminate and enrich the interior.

Most of the estate’s architectural elements have been preserved from the 1923 original construction, which was recently renovated, and lived in, by hit songwriter and former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. The elements in this 5 bedroom, 6.5 bathroom home aim to fulfill a sense of openness
