In the southeastern corner of San Francisco, California, is an area known as the Excelsior District. Within this district there are smaller neighborhoods; three of which include Excelsior, Portola, and Visitacion Valley. These three separate neighborhoods surround John Mclaren Park and all have similar feel to them. All three neighborhoods, Excelsior, Portola, and Visitacion Valley are primarily residential with the majority of the homes being single family dwellings. The median sale price of homes in the Excelsior District is $1,057,500 or approximately $872 per square foot. The median rent in the area is $3,775 per month although the majority of homes are owned by the residents. The homes in each neighborhood very slightly in their style. Portola homes tend to have more of a mediterranean feel to them and most were built in the 1920s and 1930s. In Visitacion Valley you will find more Victorian style homes with some newer construction mixed in.
