Named after the Norse god of the sea, NJORD offers groundbreaking amenities including a travel and excursion concierge, a Eurocopter 160 with onboard hangar, four superyacht limo tenders, two dive and fishing boats, a yacht and sail club, a dive center, and excursion lounge. NJORD was meticulously designed by a think tank of engineers, designers, and architects with sustainability and a philanthropic purpose in mind - to undertake oceanographic studies that advance scientific frontiers and global marine research with its specialized features including a wet and dry oceanographic laboratory, high capacity cloud computing system, multi-beam echo sounders with HD 3D mapping, air and water sampling system and magnetometer, two submarines, ten exploration zodiacs, subsea remotely operated vehicle and autonomous subsea and aerial drones, as well as gyroscopically stabilized atmospheric observatory.

Pre-construction and detailed engineering for NJORD commenced in 2022 with steel-cutting anticipated for 2023 and an anticipated delivery in 2026.
