Like many large urban areas, there is no shortage of entertainment or things to do. For those looking to be active along the coastline, Long Beach has a five and a half-mile path that runs parallel to the beach. It is common to see an abundance of people walking, running, biking and rollerblading along this path almost all of the time. Water sports at the beach are also popular among visitors and locals. At the water people can regularly be seen kayaking, on jet skis, boating and windsurfing. There are a variety of entertainment options along the downtown and waterfront areas of Long Beach. Additionally, the East Village arts district has retail shops, art galleries and street art consisting of murals. For fine arts, people can enjoy shows at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Long Beach Opera and International City Theater and the Long Beach Museum of Art.
