Despite these challenging circumstances, he describes his starting out experience as not just surviving, but thriving. "Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, I had rich experiences fostered by my family's story of starting and running a string of companies in India, Botswana, South Africa, and the United States," says Ashwin. He started his first business as a 17-year-old high-school senior and never looked back. After moving to the Bay Area in 2007 and falling in love with the place, Ashwin describes it as a location with access to everything-the mountains, hiking, beaches, skiing, the city, and quaint little downtowns.
