The Weekender: Marina del Rey Throws 50th Birthday Bash

by | Apr 9, 2015

Marina del Rey turns fifty this weekend, and it only seems fitting that the harbor town throw itself a 3-day, aquatic-focused bash to celebrate. People of all ages will flock to the laidback shore for boat parades and shows, water-taxi cruises, four tall ships and even (you guessed it) birthday cake.

Acclaimed 60s rock group Three Dog Night will amplify the energy at Friday’s official ceremony with a live concert followed by fireworks. There’s plenty of fun to be had on land, too, with narrated harbor tours, gourmet food trucks and vendors, a classic car show, and kid-centric amusements, to name a few. fdacfa_101e99dc43e04cb8b7e8e47a495ff7b0.png_srz_p_286_269_75_22_0.50_1.20_0.00_png_srz

Teen sailing sensation Abby Sunderland will be on deck to share stories about her quest to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world. See the full schedule of events here.

All events to be held at Burton Chace Park // 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina Del Rey, CA. 90292
