Park City Resort Gears Up For An Adventure Filled Summer Season

by | May 17, 2016

Summer in the mountains may just give winter a run for its money, if beautiful alpine vistas, hiking, biking, golf, swimming, boating or cool, peaceful evenings by the fire are up your alley. One of our favorite mountain destinations, Park City, is gearing up for the summer season, and with a plethora of new activities and offerings to enjoy, it’s shaping up to be as monumental as its recently wrapped historic first winter season as the largest mountain resort in the country.

The Park City base area opens for the summer Friday, May 27 and the Canyons Village base area is set to open Friday, June 17. If a getaway to the mountains isn’t yet on your summer agenda, our glimpse below of Park City’s endless activities, adventures and events may just entice you to head for the hills.

Hiking & Biking

Blog_Park_City2The now connected Park City Resort and Canyons Village together offer an extensive system of scenic hiking and biking trails. From Canyons Village, take a scenic gondola ride to the Mid-Mountain Trail to explore by foot or enjoy the Red Pine Nature Trail a short, family-friendly hike with terrific views. For a taste of Utah’s epic mountain biking, leave from the Park City Resort base where Crescent Hi-Speed Quad will take you to the top of Crescent Ridge in minutes, or head over to Canyons Village where you can enjoy the Park City Bike Park, with an array of skill level trails and features.

Mountain & Base Area Adventures

The adventure isn’t just on the trails; both base areas offer an array of activities for all ages including invigorating, Zip Line tours, scenic lift and gondola rides, a climbing wall and mini-golf. From Park City Resort base, enjoy the Alpine Coaster, an elevated track that winds you through more than a mile of loops and curves at speeds of 30mph or set out from Canyons Village to play the mid-mountain 18-hole Alpine Disc Golf Course.

Kid’s Activities

Park City Resort is the ultimate playground for kids with endless activities and adventures, including summer adventure camps and a host of new offerings this season. A new kid-only zip line lets little adventurers get the thrill of a zip tour, but on a scale and speed of their own. A new kids’ ropes course helps build confidence while the new kids’ tubing will give little ones the thrill of sliding down the mountain without the snow.

Park City boasts more than a dozen golf courses, including Canyons Golf Course, which winds through 97 acres and features spectacular views of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. The 18-hole, par-69 course begins near the Orange Bubble Express and winds around the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Season passes must be purchased by June 1.

On The Water

Neighboring Park City, Jordanelle State Park offers an array of watersports on the pristine waters of the Jordanelle Reservoir. Head out for a day of kayaking, jet skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, waterskiing, fishing or leisurely exploration. Boat and gear rentals are available at Jordanelle Rentals & Marina.

Arts & Entertainment

The home of the Sundance Film Festival, Park City is a thriving art and cultural destination with exciting events all summer long. The Utah Symphony performs its pops-style outdoor concerts Fridays and Saturdays and plays a series of star-studded concerts as part of the Deer Valley Music Festival.
