Every year, the trusted color experts at Pantone search the world over for exciting color influences in anticipation of selecting their highly anticipated Color of the Year; a lively and innovative shade that will set the tone (no pun intended!) for the year to come.
The color gurus have spoken, and Pantone Color of the Year 2019 is PANTONE 16-1546: Living Coral.
“Living Coral is an animating and life-affirming shade of orange with a golden undertone,” say the color experts at Pantone on their website. “We get energy from nature. Just as coral reefs are a source of sustenance and shelter to sea life, vibrant yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”
The welcoming, ocean-inspired hue is at once energizing and intimate, lending itself perfectly to the home and design space. And, seeing as the shade is directly inspired by the sea, it may come as no surprise it’s so well-suited to beachside abodes, like the stunning Mansion De Los Azahares in Todos Santos, Mexico, represented by Joanne Berkowitz. Designed to capture the views of UNESCO’s Sierra de la Laguna range, the majestic Pacific and Cardon
forests as far as the eye can see, the exquisite home incorporates Living Coral both indoors and out, from the walls of the light-filled great room and an airy bedroom suite to the dazzling lights that illuminate the sweeping pool at dusk.
Looking to incorporate Living Coral into your own space? Try experimenting with decorative throw pillows, a cozy statement chair, or coral-hued rug to add a little underwater inspo to your living room, or invest in a set of coral salad plates or serving platters to bring the warm and inviting tone into your kitchen. Here’s to a colorful 2019.
