The Agency Agenda Park City: What to Do + Where to Go This May

by | Apr 30, 2019

Our picks of places to go and things to do to make the most of your month in Park City.

SPIN YOUR WHEELS HERE – The Soldier Hollow Bike Fest, now in its third year, spins May 2nd – 5th, featuring races for all ages and abilities, from juniors to amateurs to elite cyclists. The Time Trial kicks off the four-day event, which will feature Short Track, Cross Country and Marathon races, as well as Junior Skills and Biathlon events. The bike fest isn’t just for the racers; spectators can enter for free and enjoy a range of vendors, exhibitors, activities and food trucks at the event, which takes place less than a half-hour from Park City at Soldier Hollow in Midway, the site of the nordic events during the 2002 Winter Olympics.

STOP AND SMELL THE FLOWERS HERE – There’s still time to catch Bulbs & Bloom at Red Butte Garden, one of the great botanical gardens in the west, located just 25 minutes from Park City. The spectacular spring Daffodil Display continues in early May, featuring a colorful array of more than 460,000 blooming bulbs, 230,000 of which are daffodils. The Red Butte Garden volunteers and staff plant additional bulbs each fall, including Allium, Camassia, Iris and more. Spring is also a great time to view other blossoming trees, shrubs and vines, such as Magnolia, Crabapple, Wisteria and Lilac.

GET YOUR LAUGHS HERE –  There’s still time to catch the annual Park City Follies, “a lampoon of all things Park City,” at the Egyptian Theatre. The show continues from May 1st – 5th, with the local cast sharing their hilarity, wit, sarcasm and spoof, geared for the 17 and older crowd. Tickets sell out early, but you can try your luck for the last performances.

KEEP ON SKIING HERE – If you just can’t get enough of spring skiing, head over to Snowbird Resort, which hosts the longest season in Utah. The slopes are open through May 12th, including Peruvian, Peruvian Tunnel, Little Cloud and Mineral Basin. Soak up the sun while cruising the corduroy trails, located less than an hour from Park City, then head over to the Plaza Deck for live music and après fun.

KICK OFF SUMMER HERE – Memorial Day Weekend is the official start of summer in Park City, when visitors can enjoy a world of adventure in Park City Mountain Resort, including the Alpine Coaster and the Adventure Zone, while the Payday Express lift opens for early-season hiking and biking access. Check out the trail map for an update on conditions and open trails, or our recent guide to favorite local trails.  The picturesque, 18-hole, par-70 Canyons Golf Course also opens for the season on May 24th, capturing far-reaching mountain views. And of course the restaurants, shops, craft breweries and museums of Historic Main Street are open year-round, offering a little something for everyone.
