Guide to the Best Live Music Venues in Pasadena

by | May 21, 2019

From hip gastropubs to world-class stadiums, Pasadena is home to some of L.A.’s most unique live music destinations. Here’s a look at some of The Agency’s favorites.

KINGS ROW GASTROPUB – Located in the heart of Old Town, this lively gastropub is set in a gorgeous, historically landmarked building, replete with floor-to-ceiling brick walls that lend the space a decidedly throwback vibe. Known for its full patio bar and beer garden, along with an innovative cocktail program and inspired, locally sourced interpretations of classic pub food, the restaurant features live music Thursdays through Sundays—including the ever-popular “Reggae Sunday.”

THE TAP ROOM AT THE LANGHAM – Situated in the legendary Langham Hotel, the elegant Tap Room features live music Thursday through Saturday nights, with a revolving lineup ranging from talented jazz trios and sultry vocalists to the sambas of Brazil. Enjoy a martini or two in the refined lounge space, which also includes a covered patio perfect for balmy summer evenings ahead.

ROSEBOWL STADIUM – Built in 1922, this National Historic Landmark is perhaps best known as the proud home of the Tournament of Roses Football Game, however, in recent years it has played host to some epic concerts, including Jay-Z And Beyoncé and U2. If you’re a Rolling Stones fan, be sure to keep your eye on the Rosebowl calendar for rescheduled concert dates following Mick Jagger’s recovery from heart surgery.

EDWIN MILLS – Accessible only via a historic alleyway, this classic Old Town building dates back to 1894. Over the years, it has served as a bustling Chinese marketplace, horse stable, mechanic shop, hookah bar and has now found its calling in a high-end gastropub. Quality craft cocktails are served up with live music Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights, including folk pop, jazz, latin, R&B and more. Complete with period street lamps and original brick finishes, the restaurant is rumored to be built above a series of secret tunnels that doubled as an opium den during Prohibition.

THE BARKLEY – A Pasadena favorite since 1951, this warm, local hotspot offers a solid menu of American classics paired with live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. The popular jazz outfit Richard Glaser Quartet is in residency every Sunday night from 7 to 11pm— grab a booth and get ready for a good time.
