by | May 7, 2019

From moody piano bars to world-class concert venues, Palm Springs and the surrounding desert communities are home to some of the country’s premier live music destinations. Here’s a look at some of The Agency’s favorites.

VICKY’S OF SANTA FE – A desert mainstay for over 30 years, this adobe-style bar and restaurant in Indian Wells plays host to nationally recognized musicians nightly in its vibrant music lounge, complete with a concert grand piano and built-in dance floor. Those looking for a decidedly throwback experience flock to Vicky’s Show Supper Club Concert Series, featuring Broadway-style song and dance dinner shows with Broadway performers and top musical artists in an intimate dinner club setting.

THE SHOW AT AGUA CALIENTE – Situated inside Agua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa, this 2,000+ concert venue has played host to the likes of Steven Tyler, Sting, Duran Duran and Alan Jackson. Upcoming concerts and performers include country icon Willie Nelson and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.

THE DATE SHED – Housed in a former date repositaory on the grounds of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival, this sleek, 70s-inspired music venue features a hip lounge space, bar and DJ booth that draws some top talent. The space was originally used as a private party venue and jam room for visiting Coachella artists, but has since been reimagined as a year-round concert venue, complete with a revolving calendar of local and international acts spanning genres.

MCCALLUM THEATRE – Recognized as one of the country’s finest presenting theaters, this 1,000+ seat theatre and concert venue on the campus of Palm Desert’s College of the Desert was first introduced to the world by Bob Hope on a nationally televised concert in 1988. Since then, the theatre has featured concerts and appearances by the likes of Johnny Cash, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald and Queens of the Stone Age.

CASABLANCA LOUNGE AT MELVYN’S INGLESIDE INN – This classic Palm Springs haunt has been a favorite of the Hollywood set since the 1970s. Located next door to the historic inn of the same name, Melvyn’s Restaurant & Casablanca Lounge is Palm Springs’ go-to spot for martinis and live music, featuring popular Sunday night jam sessions with guest musicians and singers.
