7 Places to Get Fit in the OC

by | Jul 10, 2019

In Orange County, it’s all about being ready for the next adventure—whether that’s on the beach, in the ocean or on the trails. Here, we spotlight seven spots that will get you in fighting shape for the next amazing OC excursion.

CLUB PILATES – A mainstay in the SoCal Pilates scene for the past decade, Club Pilates has multiple locations and offers Reformer-based group classes that work to build strength and agility. Looking for some cardio? The Club also hosts plyometric-based sessions with jumpboards. Just want a stretch? Their CP Center + Balance course aims to increase blood flow and decrease injury.

UNION RYDE – A fresh take on the indoor spin class, Newport Beach’s UNION Ryde offers a full-body workout with signature out-of-the-saddle elements designed to maximize calorie burn and build muscle. Classes range from 45 to 60 minutes and are always set to blood-pumping beats. Plus, founder Mindy Farrantelli recently opened a second studio in Tustin that offers InfraRYDE, a class equipped with special infrared light, which helps torch calories while fighting bodily inflammation.

RA YOGA STUDIO – Ra Yoga’s Newport Beach location offers heated flow classes, restorative yin yoga, Yogalates (a fusion of yoga and pilates), Ra Strength (with weights) and even brings in live music on occasion. And, Yogis looking to improve their stances can book private, two-hour one-on-one classes.

CAFFE YOGA – This Tustin studio provides a range of classes, including Buti dance-fusion yoga, a relaxing Reset and Restore course and abbreviated 45-minute lunchtime flows as well as meditation workshops and reiki services.

RENAISSANCE CLUBSPORT – Members of this multifaceted health club can get strong in the weight room or unwind with a soothing R Spa massage—or dive into the lap pool, hop in a pick-up basketball game on the courts or grab a smoothie at the Citrus Fresh Market. Personal training, group exercise, spin, yoga and pilates as well as nutrition services, spa and childcare.

MOTION FITNESS GROUP – Motion Fitness Group’s challenging 50-minute workout is based in H.I.R.T—High Intensity Resistance Training, which incorporates sleds, slam balls, weights, battle ropes and plyo boxes. Every class is set to carefully-chosen jams to help keep participants moving and heart rates high. Don’t be intimidated—nearly every exercise can be adapted to suit a different fitness level.

BOUNCE SOCIETY FITNESS – Bounce Society in Costa Mesa centers on trampoline cardio and Barre fitness, offering daily group classes as well as personal training. In addition to getting your heart rate up quickly while remaining relatively low-impact, trampoline cardio (also known as rebounding) saves time—about 10 minutes of it is as effective as 30 minutes of running. Bounce also hosts dance cardio and rebounding classes with weights for extra sculpting.
