2022 in Review: How The Agency Gave Back

by | Dec 14, 2022

This past year marked exciting growth for The Agency, with expansion to Europe and the addition of 24 new offices. And as the business grows, so does our charitable impact. Teamwork and philanthropy have always been at the core of our mission. Collaborating with Giveback Homes, our official charity partner, we organized dozens of events to create lasting, positive change in the communities where we operate. In the spirit of the end-of-year wrap-up lists, here’s a look back on some of the ways our big-hearted team gave back and made 2022 our most successful and generous year yet.

Build Days & ReStore Days

No one understands the value of home ownership more than our team of real estate professionals. And no one knows a community like the real estate professionals living and serving in it. That’s why we participate in regular Build Days with Giveback Homes, constructing and finishing homes for families in need, as well as volunteering with local Habitat for Humanity ReStores.

In April, agents from all our Northern California offices came together for their second annual Build Day in Oakland, where they worked on a four-bedroom, three-bath home. Never afraid to get their hands dirty, the enthusiastic volunteers worked together to install a new roof and clean up debris from the building site.

Park City

The Agency Park City’s volunteer group returned to the Habitat for Humanity community where they first broke ground to see how the project they started came to completion — just before the keys were handed to a working single mother caring for her son. They then headed to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore to organize donations and tend to the facilities.

Aspen

In Aspen, volunteers also spent a day at their local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Together they restaged the floor and managed inventory. By the time they were finished, the warehouse looked brand new.

Denver

Over the summer, The Agency Denver team kicked off their first-ever Build Day and The Agency’s 23rd. Even triple-digit temperatures couldn’t get in the way of the 15-person team’s efforts to frame a home that would help meet the rising demand for affordable housing in the Denver Metro area.

Scottsdale

No strangers to working in heat, team members from The Agency Scottsdale took care of putting all the finishing touches on a residence for a single mother and paralegal assistant with two daughters. Giveback Homes Co-Founder Caroline Pinal traveled from California to help make sure the home was entirely move-in ready.

Toronto

In lieu of a grand opening event, The Agency Toronto’s Managing Partners Paige and Peter Torkan, donated funds to Giveback Homes and invited agents from the newly launched Canada offices to build several stacked townhomes at Toronto’s new Reunion Crossing community for The Agency’s first international Build Day.

North Shore

More than a dozen team members from The Agency Long Island got together in November to hang insulation and sheetrock, paint siding and install a roof on a home for a local healthcare worker and her daughter.  “Our camaraderie in the office translates beautifully to our work on the house,” remarked Managing Partner Don Mastroianni

Fundraisers & Events

Whether grinding on behalf of clients, fundraising for Giveback Homes or coming together to clean up our communities, our teams know how to have a good time while working for a good cause.

Global Barry’s Bootcamp Workout

In March, agents and employees from California to Calgary came out to make an impact with some high-impact workouts hosted by Barry’s Bootcamp. A total of seven fundraising events got participants moving to raise money for Giveback Homes.

Boston Bartending Event

March was a busy month for fundraising. Joined by Founder and CEO Mauricio Umansky, some of The Agency’s most celebrated names along the East Coast came out for a special Boston bartending event, where they mixed drinks to drum up financial support for Giveback Homes and future Build Days led by volunteers of the Boston office.

100 Miles in May

A group of 65 agents, clients, and community members went the distance for our annual springtime fundraising event to benefit Giveback Homes. The first-place winner completed their steps in just six days!

Annual Global Clean Up

In August we kicked off our annual Global Clean-Up Day, where our offices and agents join forces to care for our communities’ coastlines, parks, lakes and more. Around the world, we removed 1,136 pounds of trash, with volunteers putting in a collective 543 hours across 21 locations, including Los Angeles, New York City, Montréal and San Miguel de Allende.
