Joakim Noah, one of the many summer additions to the New York Knicks, has picked up a Chelsea penthouse to call home. The penthouse at 555 West 23rd Street has close to 2,300 square feet, three bedrooms, and three and a half bathrooms. The apartment was on the market only a short time before Noah scooped it up.
A Home With A View
The property was last sold in March 2006 for just over $3 million. This time around, the property was listed in early July of 2016 for $5.995 million, and the sale was finalized forty days later in late August for $5.8 million. The monthly maintenance charges and taxes will run just over $6,100 per month or $73,000 per year.
To sweeten the deal just a bit, the unit features a two thousand square foot terrace. Considered an oasis deep in the heart of Chelsea, Joakim’s new home includes an outdoor dining area, a private hot tub, and an outdoor kitchen. The sheer size of the terrace compared to the rest of the apartment is pretty amazing. Essentially this penthouse has over 4,300 square feet of living space when you factor in the terrace.
555 West 23rd Street
The building has a long list of amenities, which includes a 12,000 square foot sun deck, a health club, a resident’s lounge, a garage, and a hotel style concierge. However, aside from the luxurious amenities, the building has many qualities similar to a hotel; there is a valet, a doorman, front desk reception, and an on-site management team.
Built in 2006, 555 West 23rd Street offers units of all sizes from studios to penthouse apartments. There are currently eleven active sales in the building as well as nine active rentals in the building. Most of the condos available for sale in the building are between one and three million. The rental option could be a bit more palatable with the asking price ranging from only $2,800 to $6,750 per month.
