ABOUT CHILDREN MENDING HEARTS
When CMH founder, Lysa Heslov, was exposed to the tragedy of the genocide in Sudan, she wanted to help. Her idea was to empower children in the war-torn region through the gift of art. She made kites with a group of children who beamed with rare smiles as they watched their creations soar in the air. Moved extraordinarily by this powerful experience, Heslov’s mind turned to the disadvantaged youth in the U.S. Soon, Children Mending Hearts was born. Her dream is to empower at-risk children in the United States by giving them a global education and connecting them internationally to children in need. She imagines the day when all disadvantaged youth are proud global citizens who realize their ability to effect change not only in their own lives, but also in their community and around the world.
