LABJ Names Mauricio Umansky & Santiago Arana Among The Most Influential People in Real Estate

by | Jun 2, 2020

The Los Angeles Business Journal has released its special LA500 2020 edition, which honors the most influential leaders and executives in Los Angeles. Mauricio Umansky and Santiago Arana are once again named in the LA500: Real Estate category, which highlights the city’s real estate power players in an industry that the magazine says, “drives much of the local economy.”

As The Agency Founder and CEO, Mauricio has appeared on the list all five years since its inception and is ranked No. 3 on LABJ’s list of residential real estate agents by 2019 sales volume. The publication notes that Mauricio sold $554 million in L.A. homes in 2019, is one of the listing agents on the $125 million Beverly Park estate, The Beverly House, and his recent notable sales include 822 Sarbonne Road, which sold for $75 million. LABJ also highlights The Agency’s expansive growth into new markets, such as Aspen and Healdsburg, as well as Mauricio’s philanthropic efforts as a board member for Giveback Homes and a supporter of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the National Breast Cancer Association.

Santiago, The Agency’s Principal and Partner, was featured for the second time and also ranks No. 17 on LABJ’s list of top agents in L.A., with $249 million in sales in the county in 2019. LABJ notes that Santiago closed more than $3 billion in real estate over his career, selling 31 homes in L.A. in 2019 alone, including 565 N. Tigertail Road, a property Arana also developed that sold for $22.7 million, and 23768 Malibu Road, which sold for $18.4 million. Leading The Agency’s Westside offices in Brentwood and Pacific Palisades, Santiago specializes in high-end homes and construction, with notable clients including Lady Gaga, LeBron James, Larry David and Alessandra Ambrosio, LABJ writes.

“This year’s collection of leading figures from the city’s business community highlights the work that took place and the progress that was made in the months before Covid-19, but also serves as a reminder that L.A. is peopled by some of the smartest, most innovative and staunchly resilient business talent anywhere in the world,” writes LABJ Publisher Josh Schmmels.
