A masterful expression of desert modern living, this new architectural tour-de-force from Blue Heron is sited on a prime half-acre property on coveted Rockstream Drive within the exclusive guard-gated Ascaya. Organic materials and forms echo the tranquil Mojave landscape throughout the 6,305-square-foot interior paired with best-in-class finishes and features. Panoramic views of the Strip astound from nearly every room, while the backyard features an alfresco kitchen and a large pool perfect for desert entertaining. Ample terraces, decks, and pathways create peaceful moments in this personal desert refuge conceived through meticulous planning and craftsmanship. This five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom modern sanctuary artfully fuses environment and architecture.
The design narrative was conceptualized and executed by Vesta, a full-service interior design studio. We chatted with Julian Buckner, Founder & CEO at Vesta, about the exciting project and how they made it come to life so flawlessly.
Q: Tell us about Vesta.
A: Vesta is a full-service interior design studio. We design and manufacture our own custom lines of furniture, we have a high-end interior design studio specializing in residential, commercial and hospitality. We also offer furniture rental—both home staging (what we did here) as well as furnished rentals for our end customers.
Q: What was your initial vision behind the interior design of 21 Rockstream?
A: Balance. On the one hand, we had these amazing modern architectural elements that we wanted to accentuate. On the other, we wanted to bring in warmth and comfort and soften the house’s initially masculine feel. The key was working with the client and the Agency team to align on a final vision that harmonized the design with the practical selling considerations.
Q: How much of this house was custom?
A: Given the tight time frame, we relied heavily on Vesta’s new fall furniture line. However, to bring in more custom elements, we re-upholstered several pieces in richer fabrics and selected more low-profile pieces—especially in the bedrooms—which were then positioned to take advantage of the amazing views.
Q: What are a few interior design features in 21 Rockstream that you are most proud of?
A: The outdoor furniture. This line is one of my favorites in the Vesta collection in general but particularly here it so perfectly complements the surroundings—blending in without getting lost.
Also, I absolutely love the hexagonal ottomans that we custom-made for the primary closets. It’s a super small detail that most people probably won’t notice, but they perfectly complement the unique angles throughout the home, and really tie the full space together.
Q: When others tour the home, what interior design elements make the biggest impression?
A: The incorporation of water and other natural elements throughout the home as well as the striking, angular master bedroom gave us a chance to really harmonize the design with the architecture. I think we did a great job creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere while maintaining the natural, organic tranquility that really sets the property apart.
Q: Can the home buyer purchase the furniture?
A: Yes! Since all our designs are custom-curated for the project, most home buyers want to purchase the home fully furnished. It saves them time and money on the re-design and allows them the flexibility to move right in. However, if a buyer wants to redesign the home in their vision, we can rent them the furniture while we work with them on the interior design.
